Homework Information and Overview
Students receive weekly homework on Monday and it is collected on Friday. Students need to complete Letterland activities and math activities during the week. A Letterland test is given on Friday. Math activities review from skills taught during the previous weeks. This allows students to continuously practice material learned throughout the school year. In order to become stronger readers, students should read at least 15 minutes each night. Students should track their reading on the provided reading log. Reading logs and questions for parents to ask students are kept in your student's blue daily communication folder. Beginning in August, students will have a list of nonsense words in their blue folder as well. These words are provided as a means to practice nonsense words. Reading nonsense words helps students build their ability to sound out words that are new to them.
Monday Folders are sent home each Monday or the first day of the school week. Monday Folders contain work from the previous week as well as important notes home. Parents need to review the information in the folder and have students return the folders on the following day. Please only return those papers that require a signature or need to be completed. Monday Folders are an important tool in the communication process between home and school.
